Abstract
-
Sexism and traditional gender norms perpetuate inequality, with psychological entitlement (PE) linked to sexist attitudes, varying by gender and type of sexism. Grounded in ambivalent sexism theory, this study examined how PE and masculine norms relate to hostile (HS) and benevolent sexism (BS) in men and women. Among 44 college students (Mage=20.7; 54.5% women), men showed positive correlations between PE, masculine norms, and both HS and BS, while women exhibited only a BS-PE link. Findings suggest entitlement and norms reinforce sexism differently across genders, with men displaying broader endorsement. Limitations include small sample size and self-report measures. Future research should expand samples and incorporate implicit measures to inform interventions.
