- Abstract
- This study analyzes the effect sustainability has on career choices of Generation Z in the context of Greek shipping. Considering how sustainability is now a main factor in recruitment engagements, our research shows that Gen Z does consider environmental responsibility but parameters like remuneration and advancement in position are of greater importance. From interviews and surveys, we learned that Gen Z is willing to interact with green initiatives but does not fully trust the efforts made by the industry towards sustainability claiming it does not have much of an impact. The research offers guidance for Danaos Shipping and other industry players on how to better their corporate environmental initiatives alongside the attitudes of young professionals in order to remain competitive.
