Abstract
-
This collaborative project brings together women's voices, images, and materials to create a shared textile surface. Participants were invited to contribute a piece of fabric and a written response to the question, "What would you do to make the world a better place?" Their portraits were photographed and stitched onto the gathered cloths, which were then sewn into a single composite piece. Men were subsequently invited to embroider onto the work, layering gesture upon gesture. Drawing on relational aesthetics and participatory art theory, the project frames making itself as a collective act — resisting passive spectatorship and fixed authorship in favor of a living, evolving conversation in cloth.
