Abstract
-
This dissertation explores how discount strategies influence guest satisfaction, spending intentions, and service expectations in the hospitality industry. Based on survey data from 138 recent hotel guests, the findings suggest that discounts enhance satisfaction indirectly by increasing perceived value. However, excessive discounting may raise concerns about service quality. Early booking and seasonal discounts are perceived more favorably, with moderate levels (10–29%) proving most effective. While discounts can encourage higher spending and satisfaction, they may also increase price sensitivity and switching behavior. Notably, guests maintain high service expectations regardless of price, highlighting the need for carefully balanced discount strategies that support both value and brand perception.
