Abstract
-
This paper presents a literature-informed interview with an experienced trauma therapist exploring three questions: how therapists manage client fit, when and how they self-disclose, and how they navigate professional ethics online.
Three themes emerged. First, every therapist carries a distinct relational style, and rather than anxiety about misfit, this can function as a natural filter that draws compatible clients. Second, the therapist distinguished between disclosing a personal fact to build empathy and sharing personal narratives, which risks turning a therapeutic relationship into a friendship. Third, online posts require strict language discipline because complex clinical ideas, stripped of context, become impossible to clarify or repair
