Abstract
-
Relational entitlement, involving inflated entitlement (excessive deservingness) and restricted entitlement (self-suppression), is known to influence jealousy, yet its role in online relational experiences remains unexplored. This study examined correlations between relational entitlement and online jealousy in 98 emerging adults, and whether social media use intensity mediates this association. Inflated entitlement was hypothesised to positively predict online jealousy directly and indirectly through higher social media use intensity. Mediation analysis showed social media use intensity partially mediated this link, while inflated entitlement retained a significant direct effect. Findings highlight the need to examine relational entitlement in digital contexts.
