“Specter” aims to immerse viewers into a world inspired by 1970s retro-futurism, embodied by creating a private investigator office. This project is not only an artistic recreation but a personal examination of immersive storytelling, where to borders of time and space are blurred, inviting audiences to pass through the intersection of past and future. This project looks into the core of retro-futurism, where vivid colors, sleek lines and cinematic nostalgia join to create an immersive experience. Through detailed set design and including audio-visual elements, this space aims to produce a fully captivating environment convincing viewers they have stepped into a private investigator's office in an alternate reality.
I designed a typeface to represent a Stegi radio station of my choice, using the sounds of the music and translating it into a graphic typeface. The typeface I designed used a grid system and a combination of geometric and organic forms to capture the essence of the music.
“Sterile Rot” dissects the internalized and external sexualization of the female body through the lens of the medical gaze. Through a blend of paintings and video the work confronts the uncomfortable romanticization of the female body in pain, in compromising positions, its leakage, raw form juxtaposed to the concreteness and sterility of medical equipment. The body emerges not merely as a vessel of expression, but as a tool itself, challenging viewers to confront the complexities of power dynamics and the commodification of female pain in contemporary society.
The aim of this project is to showcase the city of Athens as a workplace. More specifically, I filmed a short movie that follows a motorcycle delivery driver through the southern and central suburbs of Athens, during a workday. I intend to provide a unique perspective of the Greek capital, shared among the individuals that navigate it in their effort to secure their subsistence.
Inspired by electromagnetic waves, I wanted to express the complexity of light and its thousands of applications into our world, or more thoroughly, the thousands of ways light is continuously finding to express itself. Specifically, I chose the chameleon as an example of a lizard which gives way into ultraviolet lighting for survival purposes. Additionally, taking advantage of other natural elements like eggshells, banana skins, olive oil, honey and tonic water, which have the same reflective properties, I decided to combine the two into an integrated creative arts project. More specifically, I draw a chameleon and to its body I attached the before mentioned elements in order to display the natural phenomenon using an ultraviolet light torch in an overall very dark environment.
In my artwork, I weave Christian symbolism into every aspect, aiming to evoke a profound spiritual experience. The baptismal bed symbolizes purification, while the illuminated canvases represent the primary colors used in byzantine portraits of saints,
guiding viewers on a journey of faith and self-discovery, inviting them to deepen their connection with the divine or to simply tag along on my journey towards accepting Christ into my life.
"Self-Portrait of the Mind" is a self-reflective collage project encapsulating the journey of consciousness. Utilizing personal time capsule journaling and symbolism, it distills defining moments from youth to adulthood, portraying shifts in identity and personal growth. While tangible artifacts evoke multi-sensory recollections and deep engagement with memories, the chronological arrangement mirrors the evolution of consciousness, from innocence to self-discovery. Ultimately, the project serves as a dynamic exploration of identity and narrative, driven by the human quest for self-expression and understanding.
As the camera lens zooms in on the bustling streets of Athens, one comes face to face with distinct, coexisting elements of the centuries-old Greek tradition. Modern and traditional structures, vast highways and scenic alleyways, grandiose architecture, and apartment complexes make up a city of contrasts. However, this duality is not only evident in Athens’ beauty but also in its less glamorous aspects. In the beautifully paved streets and adjacent to the monumental architecture and imposing statues, one can view the less fortunate side of the city. Athens, then as another Janus, embodies two contrasting faces, each reflecting a complex narrative of grandeur and tribulation.
In this short animated film, I explore how modern women might find pieces of their everyday life reflected in the story of Antigone, thus becoming an Antigone themselves. I wanted to highlight how carving the path you want to follow is not always easy and dilemmas often come up between what one “has” to do and what they actually want. In that case, the mere act of self-determination can sometimes be rebellious.
“Purity in Symbols” is a video installation that consists of a 3-minute video art projection on three wire sculptures that are hanging from the ceiling. The sculptures ideally should spin around during the projection. The project discuses truth and lies with shots of nature representing the truth and shots of an acting face representing lies. The sculptures are inspired from nature fantasy creatures.
