For my creative project for this course, I have selected to create a card game based around the idea of building a sustainable company. The context behind the idea is assessing how corporations can take immediate action towards progressing the sustainable development goals (SDGs), mostly focusing on goals 13, 12, 10, 8 and 7. The aim of the project is for the players to interact with concepts of sustainability and with the SDGs in a fun, interactive and informative manner, and is a way of meaningfully engaging with the material of this course, as well as tackling difficult issues that otherwise might be heavy to discuss through a more serious lens.
“What Do You Feel?”, is a card game created to address the emotional challenges faced by college students through humor, empathy, and emotional literacy. Inspired by therapeutic models such as Gefühlsmonster cards, the game prioritizes accessibility, introspection, and community over shock-based humor common in contemporary card games. Players have to respond to emotion based cards with scenario cards, after which a rotation “judge” attempts to guess which player submitted each response. Guessing correctly shows that “the judge” is aware of the struggles and anxieties of the rest of the players and this attribute is rewarded .Through these elements, the game constitutes an effort to foster meaningful social interaction emphasizing understanding over competition and prioritizing emotional awareness rather than dominance. Overall, the project highlights how thoughtful game design can transform games into tools for both entertainment and meaningful dialogue.
