This project involves the transformation of the original Little Red Riding Hood fairy tales into two narrative poems. Intending to implement the notion of “transformation” both literally and semantically, these poems transform and abstract traditional fairy tale themes but also function as two parts of a larger poem when combined line by line. This third poem created when interweaving the lines of the two poems – “The Girl” into “Red” – functions both as a figurative pun, but also as an interpretive canvas depicting the radical elements of both traditional fairytale conceptions and modern imagery and iconography.
