With the rise of social media, increasing avenues are created, allowing for advertisements in various forms to find their way into our daily lives. The present study examines how three advertisements utilize cognitive and affective techniques to persuade consumers to buy their products: A Coffee Drink; Sneakers; and Make-up. Regarding persuasion tactics, the ads were connected to the customer’s nostalgia and their need to belong in the ‘in-group’, their identity, and their desire to present themselves as young and attractive. Lastly, specific connections are made to target age groups or ethnicities that are more likely to be persuaded by each advertisement.
This analysis examines the tourism trends in Paros from January 2023 to December 2024 using Google Search Analysis, Booking scraping, booking engine data, and a hotel location database for geographic mapping. Data was processed through cleaning and structured analysis to ensure accuracy. Findings indicate a significant rise in search demand, with peak interest during summer months. Direct bookings showed steady growth, reflecting increased traveler confidence. Hotel distribution analysis highlighted key accommodation clusters. This comprehensive approach provides valuable insights into tourism demand, booking trends, and spatial dynamics, supporting data-driven decision-making for the hospitality industry in Paros. https://bit.ly/4iP7qTb
This research compared the stress levels, academic achievement, coping strategies and academic entitlement of neurodivergent and neurotypical students. Whether academic stress predicts academic achievement and whether coping strategies predict stress in the neurodivergent population were investigated. Neurodivergent (n=59, 49.6%) and neurotypical (n=60, 50.4%) students completed the CSS, Brief-Cope, APS and AEQ scales. Results revealed significant differences in academic performance and coping, but not in academic stress and entitlement. Academic stress did not predict achievement. Avoidance coping predicted stress for both groups and emotion-focused coping predicted stress in neurotypical students. Findings have major implications on how students combat stressors.
This paper presents an overview of Mediterranean olive cultivation history, how it transitioned to the modern model, and the associated environmental costs that came with this transition. The work also examines how the olive tree formed cultural landscapes through its growth characteristics and its importance as an interface with local ecosystems and rural communities. Emphasis is placed upon the ecological and cultural services provided through this traditional agroecosystem model, the potential for reintegrating the olive tree as a conservation tool in the modern day in tandem with ecotourism, and constraints that can be overcome through EU policy reform.
This paper examines phytoextraction as a biotechnology tool to remove heavy metals from soil utilizing hyperaccumulator plants. Emphasis is put on utilizing Thlaspi caerulescens as model for researching hyperaccumulation mechanisms while elaborating on the factors that may influence phytoextraction performance. Further discussion focuses on potential applications for phytoextraction to remove heavy metals from soil, benefits and limits of said applications, and considerations for phytoextraction implementation. The extent of influence of several factors ranging from soil pH to genetics is critically examined, highlighting the uncertainty in understanding the phytoextraction process and the necessity of supporting further research.
Recently, Picture 8, Picturethe Gut-Brain AxisEnd Match, Picture has found Picture 6, PictureaEnd Match, Picture resurging interest in the literature, in treating mental and neurological disorders. In this review, a short introduction will be made on the history of the gut microbiome. Thereafter, the evidence in support of this method will be explored, while also considering the insufficiently, as of yet explored areas and some potential dangers. Finally, some future directions will be discussed, while also presenting a general verdict, based on the now available research.
The present review reports on Frontotemporal Dementia and the variants of Primary Progressive Aphasia, semantic variant primary progressive aphasia” (svPPA) and “non-fluent agrammatic primary progressive aphasia” (nfPPA/nfvPPA). In the introduction, its variant of dementia is first introduced and general information is given. The next section provides the findings of studies on the epidemiology of dementia in general as there are no such reports specifically for FTD and subsequent variants as extensive as those for dementia in general. In the section about treatment only some indicative supportive interventions are cited, as there is no medication for combatting FTD. The remaining sections focus on its variant separately, reviewing findings on epidemiology, disease onset and survivability, clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria, possible dub-variants, gene mutations and brain imaging studies.
This research presents a comparative analysis between the traditional internationalization (Uppsala Model) and the “born-digital” model. By employing secondary and empirical research, I highlight the areas in which those two approaches of internationalization diverge and how this divergence affects their international operations. Considering the importance of digitalization in businesses, this research contributes to the existing IB theory by evaluating how digitalization transforms the internationalization process. Another area of contribution is the contextualization of this research, as my sample focuses on EMNEs (a Greek high-tech and a Lebanese wine firm); despite their growing opportunities in international trade, EMNEs still face challenges and in leveraging digital platforms and navigating institutional barriers.
Perfectionism has been associated with the use of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. This research aimed to explore the role of motivation to regulate emotion in the aforementioned relationship.
Participants completed measures of perfectionism and emotion regulation, followed by a mood induction task and a stimulus selection task.
Results showed that perfectionism predicted the use of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. However, participants overall showed motivation to repair their mood, selecting positive images more often than sad or neutral ones. No significant interaction between perfectionism and image type was found, providing evidence against the notion that perfectionists intentionally maintain negative mood.
This study analyzes the effect sustainability has on career choices of Generation Z in the context of Greek shipping. Considering how sustainability is now a main factor in recruitment engagements, our research shows that Gen Z does consider environmental responsibility but parameters like remuneration and advancement in position are of greater importance. From interviews and surveys, we learned that Gen Z is willing to interact with green initiatives but does not fully trust the efforts made by the industry towards sustainability claiming it does not have much of an impact. The research offers guidance for Danaos Shipping and other industry players on how to better their corporate environmental initiatives alongside the attitudes of young professionals in order to remain competitive.
